Levodopa is currently one of the most effective drugs for the treatment of Parkinson's disease, with an efficacy rate of 75% or higher. It can cross the blood-brain barrier to enter the central nervous system and be converted into dopamine under the action of dopamine decarboxylase, thereby supplementing the deficiency of dopamine in the brains of Parkinson's disease patients and improving their motor symptoms, such as reducing tremor and paralysis, improving muscle tone, and making limb movements more normal.
For patients with mild to moderate Parkinson's disease, Levodopa exhibits better therapeutic effects; however, for those with severe disease or elderly patients, the effects may be relatively poorer.
